Abstract

The issue of household waste management remains a challenge in maintaining environmental quality due to the low awareness among the public regarding the importance of waste sorting and processing from the source. This community service activity aims to enhance knowledge and awareness among the public about the household waste management system through socialisation and education activities. The programme is carried out on Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Perumahan Imperium, Poros, involving local residents as participants. The implementation methods include preparation stages, presentation of materials by speakers from the Environmental Agency, interactive discussion sessions, and evaluation through Q&A with participants. The materials presented cover types of waste, the impacts of improper waste management, techniques for sorting organic and inorganic waste, and the utilisation of waste into products that have utility and economic value. The results of the activity indicate that the community participated in the socialisation enthusiastically and gained a better understanding of the importance of sustainable waste management. This activity is expected to be a first step in building community habits to implement waste sorting and sustainable utilisation..
